A few days ago, Russian forces attacked a kindergarten in Kharkiv with a drone. However, Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev claims that Russia allegedly does not target kindergartens, according to his interview with CNN.

The host noted that he had been in Ukraine since the beginning of the war and had personally witnessed that Russia strikes not only military targets. He said his team had seen destroyed civilian buildings and reminded viewers of the recent incident in Kharkiv.

In response, the Kremlin envoy attempted to justify the attacks as "accidents," claiming that Russia allegedly wants to end the war as soon as possible.

Dmitriev said that Russia does not target kindergartens and suggested that questions about the specific incident should be addressed to the military. He added that there are "many tragic accidents" and that every victim is "a great tragedy," which, according to him, is why Moscow supposedly seeks to end the conflict quickly.

Russian strike on kindergarten in Kharkiv

On the morning of October 22, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv’s Kholodnohirskyi district with three Shahed drones. One of the drones hit a kindergarten building where 48 children were present at the time of the strike. Fortunately, they were unharmed, as all were sheltering in the basement.

The strike sparked three fires in the city, the largest of which engulfed about 500 square meters inside the kindergarten.

A municipal worker who was outside during the attack was killed, and ten others, including a five-year-old girl, were injured.

Police recently released footage showing the first minutes after the Russian strike on the kindergarten.
