The US may withdraw from the peace process between Ukraine and Russia. Moscow needs to start cooperating, states US Vice President J.D. Vance, Sky News informs.

According to Vance, if Russia is not ready for dialogue to establish peace with Ukraine, then "eventually, the US has to say this is not our war."

The Vice President added that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, "does not seem to know" how to exit the war.

Ukraine-Russia negotiations

Last Friday, Ukraine and Russia held direct talks in Istanbul.

Russia was expected to send at least senior officials to participate in the dialogue, as Ukraine did. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy even proposed a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, Putin decided to send a delegation of low-ranking officials to Istanbul, led by Putin’s aide, Vladimir Medinsky.

During the negotiations, the parties failed to agree on a ceasefire of at least 30 days. The main obstacle to such a step remains Russia and its demands.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, commenting on the low-level Russian delegation, noted that Putin missed his chance to make progress toward peace.
