Russian leader Vladimir Putin could resort to further escalation and attack other countries if he fails to achieve his goals in the war against Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with BFMTV.

According to the President, if Moscow fails to secure victory in Ukraine, the Russian leader "will become very dangerous, and not only for us."

"He will try to occupy another place, other people, and kill, kill people again," Zelenskyy said.

He added that Russia could also try to draw more countries into the conflict.

Is a ceasefire possible?

Commenting on the prospects for a ceasefire, Zelenskyy said it is possible, but achieving it now is extremely difficult.

"We need to end this war. But there is one side - Russia - that does not want this. They demonstrate it only in words," the President said.

Zelenskyy also described Putin as a liar when it comes to the possibility of a ceasefire. According to the Ukrainian President, the Kremlin leader is interested only in victory.

As previously reported, Russia recently once again referred to World War III and nuclear weapons as its "trump cards." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is prepared to use nuclear weapons if its existence is threatened.

Earlier, Peskov also claimed that Russia's "special military operation" was initially planned as an operation but has now become a full-scale war because of Western involvement.
