Russian leader Vladimir Putin responded to the elimination of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Chief of Russia's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin during his online speech.

Commenting on Kirillov being blown up, Putin named it a so-called "terrorist act" that could have led to casualties among other Russians.

The Kremlin leader also emphasized that Ukraine had already allegedly committed similar "terrorist acts" against Russian citizens.

"This, of course, means that our law enforcement and special services are missing these strikes. We simply need to improve this work and prevent such serious failures on our part," Putin added.

Kirillov's elimination

On December 16, Ukraine's Security Service officially charged the Russian General in absentia for the use of prohibited chemical weapons against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to investigators, Kirillov was responsible for over 4,800 chemical attacks using toxic substances such as CN (chloroacetophenone) and CS (chlorobenzylidene malononitrile) since the start of the war.

On December 17, Kirillov's elimination was reported. Along with the General, his aide Ilya Polikarpov, known for his involvement in Russian propaganda, was also killed.

Sources at RBC-Ukraine stated that Ukraine's Security Service organized the operation.
