US President Donald Trump commented on the ongoing negotiations with Ukraine and Russia, according to CNN and Reuters.

According to US President Donald Trump, negotiations between the US, Ukraine, and Russia are progressing well.

“I think Ukraine-Russia might be going OK. And you’re going to be finding out pretty soon. You know, there’s a point at which you have to either put up or shut up. We’ll see what happens, but I think it’s going fine,” Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One.

The comment came the day after Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, flew to St. Petersburg to meet with Vladimir Putin. Their conversation lasted more than four hours.

Witkoff’s visit to Russia and beyond

Witkoff visited St. Petersburg on April 11, where he met with Russian Ambassador for Investment Kirill Dmitriev and then with Putin himself. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Putin wanted to discuss options for "settling the situation in Ukraine" with Witkoff.

Additionally, Witkoff told Trump after Dmitriev's visits to Washington that the quickest path to peace in Ukraine would be to grant Russia ownership rights to four Ukrainian regions.
