Leading representatives of conservative political forces in Germany have announced their intention to severely punish those responsible for violent incidents that occurred in several German cities during youth protests, according to DPA.

On October 31, tens of thousands of young people took to the streets, and initially, the demonstrations proceeded peacefully. However, the situation escalated in the evening: riots broke out, particularly in Frankfurt and Cologne. In Berlin, participants threw bottles and firecrackers at law enforcement officers. In several cities, police were forced to deploy water cannons.

The initiative "Gen Z regelt" organized the actions. It called for peaceful demonstrations, with participants demanding increased education funding, measures to curb the rising cost of living, and intensified efforts to combat global warming.

On November 1, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt accused "violent left-wing groups and troublemakers from migrant communities" of inciting the riots. According to him, it was these groups that disrupted the peaceful demonstrations that took place during the day on Saturday.

Serious consequences of the riots have been recorded in Frankfurt. According to Roman Poseck, the Interior Minister of the federal state of Hesse and a member of the Christian Democratic Union, more than 100 police officers were injured there. One law enforcement officer sustained serious injuries.

Additionally, police detained 54 individuals aged 13 to 29. As a result of the riots, 17 businesses were damaged, five of which were looted.

Poseck stated that the events demonstrated a significant level of violence on the part of left-wing radicals and aggressive youth, a large portion of whom have a migration background.

He also emphasized that the issue of migrant involvement in offenses must be discussed openly, without artificial restrictions or taboos.

According to the minister, substantial police forces were deployed to maintain order in Frankfurt. In total, this involved over one thousand law enforcement officers and special forces, who used water cannons and tear gas.
