Most people imagine British monarchs’ mornings as lavish banquets filled with delicacies. However, the Prince of Wales’ daily breakfast menu turned out to be surprisingly simple and cost less than £2.
Daily Express shares what Prince William chooses for breakfast.
What Prince William eats for breakfast
Prince William revealed his eating habits during a visit to a community garden in Cornwall in 2022, when he filled out a nutrition questionnaire. It turned out that his morning does not start with trendy superfoods or expensive ingredients, but with classic foods found in almost every kitchen.
The future king’s daily breakfast consists of two eggs, whole-grain toast with butter, a glass of apple juice, and a cup of tea. Despite the lack of royal extravagance, evidence-based nutrition experts say this combination provides an ideal balance of protein, fiber, and vitamins.
Why this menu works: a scientific approach
Avoiding fast carbohydrates in favor of a balanced plate gives the body the right start to the day. Experts highlight several key benefits of this diet:
Eggs for muscles and satiety
Eggs are one of the best sources of high-quality protein. They contain essential amino acids that support muscle tissue and provide long-lasting satiety, preventing sharp spikes in hunger hormones.
Whole-grain bread with butter for energy
Such toast provides complex carbohydrates and fiber, which support digestive health and ensure a steady release of energy throughout the morning. The addition of butter (a source of fats) further prolongs the feeling of fullness.
Antioxidant protection
A glass of apple juice is not just a way to quench thirst. According to certified nutritionist Charlotte Foret Green, apple juice is rich in polyphenols (plant compounds that act as powerful antioxidants).
They protect cells from oxidative stress and support healthy aging. Vitamin C, in turn, supports adrenal function and helps the body cope with stress.
To get the maximum amount of beneficial polyphenols, it is best to choose unfiltered (cloudy) apple juice, as it contains significantly more natural compounds from the fruit than clear juice.
Interestingly, Prince William is not the only member of the royal family who prefers simple morning routines. It is known that Princess Catherine often chooses plain oatmeal for breakfast.
