US President Donald Trump, on the eve of the third week of the war against Iran, stated that the goals of the United States and Israel in the operation against Tehran may differ, reports CNN.

"Well, I think they might be a little different, I guess, they’re a different country than we are. But he will tell you there’s never been a power like the power of the United States," Trump told reporters before boarding a plane.

When asked by journalists whether he speaks daily with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said, "I speak to him a lot."

The comments from the US president come against the backdrop of Israel's statements about continuing strikes on Iran on Friday evening local time. It is reported that the targets of the strikes included Iranian checkpoints in Tehran, government buildings, and warehouses.

Incidentally, about an hour ago, Trump reported that the US had carried out one of the most powerful bombings in the history of the Middle East. According to him, all military facilities on Kharg Island were destroyed as a result of the strikes. At the same time, for reasons of decency, he decided not to destroy the oil infrastructure.

Victory over Iran

Recently, the WSJ, citing its sources, wrote that some of Trump's advisers have begun urging him to end the war against Iran. All this happened against the backdrop of rising oil prices and fears that a prolonged war would negatively affect the midterm elections to the US Congress.

At the same time, Donald Trump has publicly stated that the US has effectively won the war against Iran. According to him, this supposedly happened within the very first hours of the operation.

According to the Reuters news agency, Trump's assistants are currently debating how and when to declare victory over Iran.
