Polish-made components were found in Iranian Shaheds
A state company from Poznań was selling parts that ended up in Iranian Shahed 136 combat drones. Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has already responded to the investigation, according to Radio ZET Wiadomosci and Interia wydarzenia.
The country's Internal Security Agency discovered the case, revealing that such drones are used by Russians to carry out attacks on Ukraine.
According to the data, Iranian drones were equipped with pumps manufactured by a company owned by the Industrial Development Agency.
Responding to a question about this case at a press conference, Poland's Minister of the Interior and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak, stated that an investigation is currently underway, led by the local branch of the National Prosecutor's Office in Poznań, concerning violations of the law on the export of weapons and technologies.
"The case was uncovered by the Internal Security Agency and is, of course, absolutely shocking. However, the prosecutor's office will certainly take action, press charges, and inform about the further course of the case," said the Minister of the Interior.
He added that the government is trying to "tighten all issues related to sanctions."
"In recent years, this system has been greatly relaxed despite the rhetoric, and here the National Tax Administration, in cooperation with other services, has been conducting intensive activities for several months to ensure that sanctions and embargoes are not circumvented," emphasized Siemoniak.
Iranian Shahed UAVs
It is worth noting that in its war against Ukraine, Russia systematically uses Iranian Shahed drones of various types during air attacks. Specifically, Shahed 136 drones are frequently launched over Ukrainian territory.
The Iranian defense industry has been sanctioned by Western allies, prohibiting the supply of components for weapons to Russia's partner country.
Despite this, components produced by Ukraine's allied countries are periodically found in Iranian Shahed drones.
