Poland intercepts Russian aircraft
Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft 30 km north of the town of Leba.
According to the Polish minister, "Russia once again tested our deterrence and air defense systems."
"There was no violation of our airspace over the Baltic Sea," he clarified.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on July 31, a Russian Il-20 electronic intelligence aircraft flew over the Baltic Sea without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off.
It was also reported that two Russian Su-30SM2 fighter jets approached the area where Poland was conducting air defense exercises on July 15. In response, a pair of fighter jets on standby was scrambled from Malbork and intercepted the two Russian aircraft.
In addition, on July 12, a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft approached Polish airspace over the Baltic Sea. A pair of fighter jets on standby was promptly scrambled to intercept it.
