Poland warns of fake election news, CNN reputation exploited for disinformation

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, reported that disinformation about the presidential elections, scheduled for May 18, is spreading in the English-language segment of Polish internet forums. The fake reports are being attributed to CNN.
"The messages concern potential disruptions to the electoral process. The authors are impersonating CNN," Gawkowski wrote.
According to him, the NASK Disinformation Analysis Center monitors the situation and reports false narratives.
The Minister urged everyone to carefully verify the sources of information and avoid sharing materials from unverified sources.
Notably, the presidential candidates had a heated argument during the first presidential debate in Poland. The topic of the dispute was Ukraine.
Karol Nawrocki, a presidential candidate supported by the Law and Justice party, stated that, as the head of Poland, he would like to be part of the negotiation table between the US, Russia, and Ukraine on behalf of the EU.
Aid to Ukraine and elections
In early April, Poland's Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, was asked whether there was a chance that the decision regarding the deployment of troops to Ukraine would change after the presidential elections. The Minister answered negatively. He explained that the deployment of troops could be used by Russian propaganda.
