Poland has signed a deal with the United States to purchase missiles, with the contract valued at $850 million, reports DW.

The Polish Armaments Agency announced that Warsaw has signed a contract with the US government worth approximately $850 million for the supply of several hundred AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles, which are air-to-air missiles. The exact number of missiles ordered by Poland was not specified.

The deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2029 and 2033, and the missiles will be used to equip aircraft in the Polish military.

According to Polish media, Warsaw and Washington are expected to sign a separate agreement next week for the purchase of 96 Apache attack helicopters, with the contract potentially exceeding $9 billion.

The Apache helicopters are expected to replace Poland’s aging Soviet-era helicopter fleet.

It’s worth noting that a European country recently placed an order with the defense company Rheinmetall for Skynex air defense system ammunition worth hundreds of millions of euros.

Additionally, Rheinmetall is set to build a plant in Ukraine for the production of artillery shells.
