Poland to provide Ukraine with record military aid package, foreign minister says

Russia is escalating its hybrid war by giving it a kinetic character through missiles and drones. In response, Poland is preparing its largest military aid package for Ukraine and strengthening its border defenses, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said, according to Polskie Radio.
Escalation along the borders and Russian threats
The Polish foreign minister said Russian drones and missiles regularly violate the airspace of Poland and Lithuania.
As targets have approached the border, the military has already reinforced the border crossing in Dorohusk with an air defense system and portable fortifications.
According to Sikorski, the Kremlin’s actions are bordering on outright aggression. He cited the following examples of hostile activity:
- launching drones toward international airports;
- attempts to mine and set fire to shopping centers and passenger aircraft;
- sending sabotage groups to carry out killings.
Aid package and solidarity with Ukraine
Despite pressure from Moscow, Warsaw will not give in to intimidation.
The Polish government is already working on a major new step to support the Ukrainian military.
"We are preparing the largest and most comprehensive aid package for Ukraine. We will not be intimidated. The more Russia bombs Ukraine, the greater the solidarity we must show," Sikorski said.
He also added that NATO and the European Union have a significant economic and military advantage over Russia, so the Kremlin should not have illusions about impunity.
Threats to Poland and aid for Ukraine
Poland plans to allocate a new €50 million aid package for Ukraine, which will include missiles for US-made Patriot air defense systems.
In addition, Warsaw has responded firmly to the Kremlin’s nuclear threats and warnings that Russia could destroy Poland within days.
Poland’s foreign ministry emphasized that while Russia does hold a weapon advantage, it is unlikely to realize it due to counteraction from NATO allies.
