Poland to conduct military operations at border with Belarus
Starting Thursday, August 1, the Polish Armed Forces will launch two operations aimed at strengthening national security on the eastern border of the country. This is in response to the influx of migrants from Belarus, according to the Polish Armed Forces.
It is noted that the operations Bezpieczne Podlasie (Safe Podlasie) and Wschodnia Zorza (Eastern Aurora) are responses to the threats posed by the migration pressure from the Belarusian regime and Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. This includes air attacks on the western regions of Ukraine.
These operations will be crucial in strengthening national security and effective deterrence. The Bezpieczne Podlasie operation will provide effective protection against illegal migration, while the Wschodnia Zorza operation will enhance operational capability against threats to Poland's airspace security, according to the report.
According to Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Wschodnia Zorza operation will cover the eastern and northeastern regions of Poland. It will involve continuous monitoring of the airspace, responding to detected violations, and cooperating with allies and conducting training.
Conflict between Poland and Belarus
In recent years, the conflict between Poland and Belarus has been ongoing, exacerbated by the increase in illegal migrant flows to the Polish border.
In response, Poland is reinforcing its border with Belarus and plans to construct modern fortifications.
In addition, the Baltic countries and Poland have proposed to the EU the construction of a 700-kilometer defensive line on the border with Russia and Belarus.
