Poland shuts down second airport due to unexpected military operations

Poland closed the airspace over Lublin Airport on the night of September 10, according to the aviation information website.
The airspace was reportedly closed due to unscheduled military activity related to ensuring national security.
Earlier, another Polish airport, Rzeszów, was closed with the same explanation.
Currently, according to FlightRadar, no passenger planes are observed near Rzeszów and Lublin. However, military aircraft activity has been noted in the area.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on the night of Wednesday, September 10, Russian Shahed drones crossed the Ukrainian border and entered Polish airspace.
In response, Poland scrambled F-16 fighter jets and a SAAB 340 AWACS aircraft.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed that, to ensure the security of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander activated all necessary procedures.
“In our airspace, Polish and allied aircraft are operating, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of readiness,” the statement read on X (formerly Twitter).
