-
Lime - one piece
-
Lemon - one piece
-
Cloves - six pieces
-
Powdered sugar - 200 grams
-
Cinnamon sticks - one piece
-
Bay leaves - two pieces
-
Vanilla bean - one piece
-
Nutmeg - one piece
-
Star anise - two pieces
-
Dry red wine - one and a half liters
How to make
Start by peeling clementines, lemon, and lime, but don't discard the peels.
Then, take a large saucepan, add a few tablespoons of sugar, place it over medium heat, add the citrus peels, and squeeze clementine juice into it.
Add cloves, a cinnamon stick, a bay leaf, and about 10-12 grated nutmegs to the mixture. Cut a vanilla pod and add it to the saucepan. Finally, pour enough red wine into the spices to cover the sugar.
Let it simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved in the red wine, then bring it to a boil. Boil for about 4-5 minutes or until you get a thick syrup.
Once your drink is ready, reduce the heat to a minimum and add star anise and the remaining wine. Warm it slightly before adding.
When the mulled wine has cooled a bit and steeped, pour it into glasses and serve.
