The past night was difficult for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Still, air defense worked effectively against enemy targets, including ballistic missiles, according to the head of the Air Force Command's communications department, Yurii Ihnat.
"Tonight was not an easy one for the Defense Forces. They worked quite intensively, almost the entire night. We had missile attacks in two waves, so to speak, with the use of aeroballistic missiles, ballistic missiles were also used, and cruise missiles, both sea-launched and ground-launched," Ihnat noted.
According to him, we saw a total of 22 missiles and more than 460 drones. The air defense performed quite well today in carrying out the tasks set by the military leadership.
"The Air Force commander acknowledged many who showed a good result today. The unmanned drones also delivered a good result today, and manned aviation, especially army aviation, achieved good results as well, the military forces, and everyone else who joined — including electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups," he added.
Directions of the Russian night strike
According to him, in terms of directions, Odesa was under a serious attack. A huge number of drones flew toward this region, specifically from the Black Sea area.
"And the Chernihiv region as well — it was literally all in red colors, as they say, in markers, if you look at the radars. A lot of drones were going exactly through this region, as well as the Sumy region and other regions," Ihnat added.
He also added that the flight of Russian drones violating the borders of other states was recorded — today it was Moldova and Romania.
Features of the air defense operation
"We cannot conclude (after today's attack – ed.) so early, because this requires thorough examination. By the way, today, three ballistic missiles that were heading toward the capital were shot down. The Patriot system worked flawlessly today, specifically against the Iskander-M. There is also an interception of the Kinzhal," emphasized the head of the Air Force Command's communications department.
He also added that regarding the remaining missiles that did not appear in the interception statistics, not all of them reached their targets. Still, it is not worth providing the enemy with unnecessary information. The situation regarding these missiles is being clarified.
On the night of November 25, Russia attacked Ukraine with 22 missiles of various types and 460 strike drones. Air defense forces intercepted 14 missiles and more than 430 drones.
