Partial blackout at Zaporizhzhia NPP
A partial blackout occurred at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on November 14, caused by Russian occupiers' actions, according to Energoatom.
There was a power outage at the sixth power unit of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Diesel generators and safety systems were activated and operated for 90 minutes.
During this time, the occupational management of the seized Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant investigated the causes of the blackout and decided how to deal with the consequences of their incompetent actions.
The partial blackout was confirmed by IAEA inspectors present at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
"Due to the complete unprofessionalism of the Russian occupiers at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, there is a constant degradation of the main equipment and an increase in dangerous incidents of its failure," the statement said.
Situation at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
Europe's largest nuclear power plant was seized by Russians in the early days of the full-scale invasion. Furthermore, the occupiers deployed military equipment on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Throughout the occupation, the station has been disconnected from Ukraine's power systems several times.
Experts from the IAEA are currently at the station. In early November, the agency conducted its 13th rotation of inspectors.
Energoatom notes that since the beginning of the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, there have been seven complete blackouts. Such incidents pose a threat not only to Ukraine's nuclear and radiation safety but also to other countries.
