On Thursday, March 12, the sixth day of the 2026 Winter Paralympics will take place. Today’s schedule will be less intense than usual, with athletes competing for just three sets of medals, according to the official Games schedule.

A pause for the blue-and-yellows

Today’s competitions will take place without any Ukrainian athletes. Although our team is represented in para-alpine skiing, the only Ukrainian athlete in this discipline, Maksym Heluta, will compete in the giant slalom only tomorrow, March 13.

The Ukrainian flag will also not be present in team events today – wheelchair curling and para ice hockey – where the final group-stage and ranking matches are taking place.

Finals of the day

All eyes today will be on the slopes of Cortina, where women will compete in the second run of the giant slalom.

Finals schedule (March 12):

  • 1:30 p.m. (Kyiv time) – Para-alpine skiing: women, giant slalom (visually impaired class)

  • 1:45 p.m. – Para-alpine skiing: women, giant slalom (standing class)

  • 2:05 p.m. – Para-alpine skiing: women, giant slalom (sitting class)

Ukraine in the medal standings

Ukraine currently has 10 medals, including 3 golds.

The clear leader remains China, which has pulled far ahead of its rivals both in gold medals (10) and total medals won – 26.

Paralympics 2026 medal table (Top 10):

  1. China – 10 gold + 7 silver + 9 bronze = 26 medals

  2. USA – 6 + 5 + 3 = 14

  3. Austria – 4 + 1 + 3 = 8

  4. Russia – 4 + 0 + 2 = 6

  5. Italy – 3 + 5 + 1 = 9

  6. France – 3 + 4 + 2 = 9

  7. Ukraine – 3 + 2 + 5 = 10

  8. Norway – 2 + 2 + 0 = 4

  9. Netherlands – 2 + 1 + 1 = 4

  10. Spain – 2 + 1 + 0 = 3
