Pakistan promises fitting reply after Afghanistan forces launch border assault

Pakistan has promised Afghanistan a dignified response to its offensive on Afghan provinces, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Interior on the social media platform X.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the shelling from Afghanistan targeting Pakistani territory.
The official emphasized that the Afghan forces’ shelling of civilian areas constitutes a blatant violation of international law.
“Afghanistan is playing a game of fire and blood, with threads intertwined with our eternal enemy. Afghanistan will also receive a dignified response so that it does not dare to look at Pakistan with an evil eye,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Afghan TV channel Tolo News, citing the Afghan Ministry of Defense, reported that at midnight on October 12, the Afghan army completed its military operation against Pakistan.
According to the ministry, the clashes along the border allegedly began in response to violations of Afghan airspace by the Pakistani army and airstrikes on Afghan territory.
Military actions on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border
As reported, on October 11, Afghan Taliban forces launched a coordinated offensive against Pakistani troops in multiple areas.
The Taliban used artillery and drones to carry out attacks in several Pakistani provinces.
This marks the first time the Taliban has officially acknowledged an attack on Pakistan. The group claims the assault was a response to alleged violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty by Pakistani forces.
The escalation has already been described as the most significant since 2021, when the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops.
