On the night of December 9, the Russian Federation launched two missiles and 37 drones against Ukraine. Air defense systems were active in nine regions of the country, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

During the night, terrorists attacked Ukraine with:

  • two guided aviation missiles launched from airspace over the Black Sea;
  • 37 drones, including Shahed-type drones and UAVs of other types, launched from areas near the Russian cities of Orel and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

To repel the air attack, the following were involved:

  • units of the anti-aircraft missile forces and electronic warfare (EW);
  • mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

As of 8:00 AM, air defense systems successfully intercepted:

  • two X-59/69 missiles;
  • 18 UAVs.

Air defense was active in the Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Ternopil, and Odesa regions.

In the Vinnytsia region, the falling debris of downed enemy UAVs damaged the infrastructure of several private enterprises.

Attacks on Ukraine

The full-scale war launched by Russia against Ukraine is accompanied by regular drone, missile, and artillery attacks on Ukrainian territory. The primary targets of these attacks are critical infrastructure, residential neighborhoods, industrial facilities, and energy systems. These strikes often lead to destruction and casualties among the civilian population.

On the night of December 8, Russia attacked Ukraine with 74 drones. At that time, air defense managed to destroy 28 UAVs, while 46 drones were lost from radar tracking.
