Over thousand trucks wait at Polish border: Situation update
Polish farmers continue to block border crossings with Ukraine. Over 1700 trucks are queued at only two points, according to Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"When these directions (Shehyni and Krakovets, - ed.) were unblocked, we began to notice increased traffic intensity, both outbound from Poland and towards Poland. It's worth noting that these routes were previously unblocked, but over the past two days, Polish farmers have resumed their blockade of these routes," the spokesperson said.
He noted that at the border checkpoints of Shehyni-Medyka and Krakovets-Korchova, there are over 1700 trucks queued.
"The traffic intensity here at the moment is in line with the capacity of each of these border crossings. We hope that this will continue in the future," Demchenko added.
Border blockade
Since the end of last year, truck traffic at the border with Ukraine has been blocked in Poland. In January, the situation was temporarily stabilized, but in February, Polish farmers resumed protests and the border blockade.
Recently, Ukraine, together with Poland and the EU, held negotiations on resolving the grain issue.
On April 20, it became known that Polish farmers unblocked two checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.
