Over 900 dead after earthquake hits Venezuela

By the evening of Friday, June 26, the death toll in Venezuela rose again after two earthquakes, surpassing 900 people, according to Reuters.
According to the agency, foreign rescue teams and humanitarian aid only began arriving in the affected areas of Venezuela several days after the earthquakes.
According to government data, 172 people are still trapped under the rubble. At the same time, 920 people have been killed and 3,360 injured. More than 50,000 people are reported missing.
Reuters also added that another earthquake struck Venezuela on Friday. A 4.9 magnitude tremor was felt in Caracas, the capital, and nearby Maracay.
According to the publication, the disaster could have political consequences for interim President Delcy Rodríguez, who is seeking to present herself as a leader of political change, despite having served as vice president under ousted President Nicolás Maduro.
What preceded this
As a reminder, on the evening of Wednesday, June 24, two consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.1 and 7.5 struck Venezuela. As a result, extensive destruction was recorded in the capital Caracas.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that according to the UN, the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela affected nearly 2 million buildings, causing direct damage of $6.7 billion.
