Israel was attacked from Lebanese territory today, October 2, with over 100 rockets fired within just a few hours, stated the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), according to The Times of Israel.

According to military sources, between 5:45 p.m. and 5:47 p.m., around 70 rockets were launched at Western Galilee, landing in open areas.

By 7:25 p.m., another 30 rockets were fired at the same area, again hitting open spaces.

At 6:41, two rockets were fired from Lebanon at the village of Avivim.

Medical reports indicate that one person sustained minor shrapnel injuries during the shelling of Western Galilee. No other casualties were reported.

Background

On October 1, Israel launched a ground operation in Lebanon, with its troops crossing the border. The operation targets Hezbollah's infrastructure.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant explained that the goal is to allow residents of northern Israel to return home after evacuating due to continuous shelling.

In an interview with RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel, Israeli journalist and editor-in-chief of Best Radio Tzvi Zilber said this is only the declared official goal, as Israel aims to make this Lebanese war the last one.
