Two documentaries about the events of the war in Ukraine have been nominated for one of the highest awards in the world of cinema, the prestigious Oscar 2025, informs The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The “Porcelain War” by Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontiev and “Once Upon a Time in Ukraine” by Betsy West and Earl Mack were shortlisted in the Best Documentary Feature category.
What is the movie “Porcelain War” about
The work highlights the lives of three Ukrainian ceramic artists who, despite the danger, explosions, and destroyed cities, remain in their native land. They continue to create unique ceramic pieces, turning the fragility of porcelain into a symbol of unbreakable strength and fortitude.
“Once Upon a Time in Ukraine”
The tape tells about the war through the eyes of children. The little heroes sincerely share their vision of the tragedy that changed their childhood but could not destroy their faith in a better future.
At the same time, the film “La Palisiada,” directed by Philip Sotnychenko and submitted by the Ukrainian Oscar Committee in the Best International Feature Film category, failed to make it to the list of finalists.
The Oscar ceremony will take place on March 3, 2025, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
