Oracle founder Larry Ellison has topped the list of the world's richest people for the first time, surpassing Elon Musk, who had held the top spot for nearly a year, Bloomberg reports.

The fortune of 81-year-old Ellison rose by 101 billion dollars after the release of Oracle Corp.'s quarterly financial report, which exceeded analysts’ expectations and indicated further business growth.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ellison's total wealth has reached $393 billion. This increase became the largest single-day wealth gain ever recorded within the framework of this ranking.

For comparison, Elon Musk's net worth is currently estimated at $385 billion.

Larry Ellison is an American entrepreneur, founder and chairman of Oracle Corporation. His name first appeared in the Forbes ranking in 1986, when his estimated fortune was $185 million. At the peak of tech company valuations before the dot-com crash in 2000, his wealth was estimated at $48 billion.

As of September 2012, his wealth was valued at $44 billion, placing him third in the US. In 2024, he surpassed Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, moving into second place worldwide after crossing the $200 billion mark. As of July 2025, Larry Ellison's fortune was approximately 262.2 billion dollars.
