OpenAI tests SearchGPT – New AI-based search engine
The company OpenAI is testing a prototype of the new search engine, SearchGPT. The best of its features will later be directly integrated into ChatGPT, according to the OpenAI website.
The company states that the new development aims to combine the power of our AI models with information from the Internet to provide you with quick and timely answers based on clear and relevant sources.
During the testing phase, a small group of users and publishers will have access to SearchGPT and provide their feedback. Those interested in participating can register on the waiting list.
OpenAI emphasizes that getting answers from the Internet can require significant effort, often needing several attempts to obtain relevant results.
“We believe that by enhancing the conversational capabilities of our models with real-time information from the web, finding what you’re looking for can be faster and easier,” the press release states.
The search engine allows for the possibility of asking follow-up questions, as you would in a conversation with a person. This way, a general context will be created for each query.
The company also noted that SearchGPT is designed for search purposes and is not related to the training of OpenAI's core generative AI models. Websites can appear in search results even if they opt out of generative AI training.
Researchers at Google DeepMind studied the experience of professional stand-up comedians who use artificial intelligence to write their jokes. It turned out that AI doesn't have a great sense of humor, as its jokes are mild, clichéd, and boring.
