During the Spiderweb operation to destroy Russia’s strategic aviation, exclusively Ukrainian weapons were used, shared President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the program This Week.

According to the president, it was his desire that during the attack on Russian airfields, no equipment provided by Ukraine’s allies would be used.

"I wanted very much to use only what we produce and to have the separation [be] very clear," Zelenskyy explained.

As a result of the Spiderweb operation, about one-third of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet was damaged. For the operation, FPV drones were used, which were secretly delivered by trucks to Russian airfields.

Operation Spiderweb

On the first day of June, the Security Service of Ukraine attacked with drones four Russian strategic aviation airfields at once — Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo. This historic and unprecedented operation was named Spiderweb. It was prepared for a year and a half.

According to official data, during the operation, at least 41 Russian strategic aircraft were hit, including Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and A-50. The damage to Russia is estimated at about 7 billion dollars.

After the Spiderweb operation, the Russians managed to use only 7 strategic aviation aircraft for the attack on Ukraine, from which 36 Kh-101 missiles were launched.
