The Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai came under a drone attack overnight on November 6. A fire broke out at the facility, and thick smoke rose over the industrial area, according to OSINT channels.

Video footage from the scene shows a glow and a fire directly in the industrial area of the Afipsky refinery. Information about the scale of the fire and possible damage to the facility is still being clarified.

After 1 a.m. local time, air raid sirens sounded in Krasnodar Krai. Local residents also reported deafening explosions. According to their accounts, loud noises could still be heard after the first reports of the attack.

Amid the drone threat, Krasnodar Airport introduced the Carpet plan and temporarily restricted aircraft arrivals and departures.

"Aircraft arrivals and departures are temporarily restricted," Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) reported.

Meanwhile, as of the time this article was prepared, Krasnodar Krai governor Veniamin Kondratyev had not officially confirmed the attack on the Afipsky refinery or reported a fire at the facility.

There have been reports of explosions and fires in Adygea and Krasnodar. The latter was covered in smoke carried from the Afipsky refinery.

Afipsky refinery regularly comes under attack

The Afipsky refinery is one of the largest oil refining facilities in southern Russia. Its designed capacity is approximately 6.25 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products. Some of its output is used to supply the Russian army.

The facility has repeatedly been targeted by drone attacks. Among the most recent known incidents was one in August this year.

On July 14, 2026, OSINT sources also reported a fire near the plant's tank farm following another attack.

The Afipsky refinery was also struck on June 11. A large-scale fire broke out at the plant following the attack. Ukraine's General Staff reported that the facility had been hit, while the Russian side attributed the fire to falling drone debris.
