Oil depot ignited due to drone attack in Volgograd region
A fire broke out at an oil facility in the Russian city of Kalach-na-Donu, Volgograd region, early on July 9 following a drone attack, according to local media and Russian Telegram channels.
According to Russian propagandists, an aerial drone attack occurred in the Volgograd region around four o'clock in the morning on July 9, and fires were reported in the city of Kalach-na-Donu shortly after five o'clock.
"The oil depot in Kalach-na-Donu in the Volgograd region caught fire early in the morning on July 9. Eyewitnesses report that the fires were preceded by a series of explosions," writes the edition V1 / Volgograd News.
Russian media outlets traditionally claim that the Ukrainian army is responsible for the attack.
Propagandists in Russia also allege that drone strikes hit a fuel tanker and a bread factory, and they publish footage of the aftermath of the attacks. Videos and photos show moments of drone strikes with loud explosions and scenes of fires.
"Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the city of Kalach-na-Donu in the Volgograd region. According to the Telegram channel SHOT, the preliminary target of enemy drones was a local oil depot," states SHOT.
Russian media further reports that residents allegedly counted approximately 10 explosions.
"Afterward, a fire broke out in the area near the oil depot, and a black column of smoke is now visible from various parts of the city. There is currently no official information or data on casualties," writes SHOT.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Mash informs that at least 5 drones attacked Kalach-na-Donu, allegedly flying one after another.
"At the locations of the drone strikes near the oil refinery and on the territory of the bread factory, two fires are currently being extinguished," Mash states.
Drone attacks and explosions in Russia on July 9
Earlier tonight in Russia, reports indicated shelling in Belgorod and its region, particularly in the city of Shebekino. According to local authorities, air defense systems were activated in the region, resulting in one fatality and two injuries due to the attack.
Additionally, there were reports of drone attacks in the Rostov region, described as being extensive. The governor of the region stated that a fire broke out involving two transformers at a power substation in the Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky district.
