Official: Trump chosen as Republican candidate
Donald Trump has officially become the Republican presidential candidate for the United States. He has decided that if he wins the elections, Senator J.D. Vance will become his vice president, according to CNN.
As the agency reports, Trump has received enough Republican votes to officially become the party's candidate for the presidential elections.
Who will become Vice President
“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump reported on Truth Social.
The former US president added that Vance would "be strongly focused on the American Workers and Farmers" during the campaign.
What is known about Vance
Initially a staunch critic of Trump, even likening him to German dictator Adolf Hitler, Vance's position shifted sharply when he entered the 2021 Senate race.
Vance is known for his scandalous statements about Ukraine. He has repeatedly opposed the supply of American weapons to Ukrainian soldiers to defend against the Russian army.
He has also urged the White House to acknowledge that Ukraine will have to cede some of its territories to Russia.
