Russian forces carried out a massive overnight air attack on Ukraine’s Odesa region on December 14, using multiple types of weapons, according to the Air Force.
According to the Air Force, the enemy directed attack drones toward Zatoka and Chornomorsk and also dropped guided aerial bombs in the direction of Zatoka.
In addition, a missile threat was declared in the region, with high-speed targets detected moving toward Chornomorsk.
As of 8:50 a.m. local time, the air raid alert in the region had been ongoing for more than five hours. Moreover, social media users reported explosions and possible strikes. However, there has been no official information from local authorities regarding the consequences of the attack so far.
Russia’s strike on energy infrastructure
It is worth recalling that on the night of December 13, the Russian army carried out a missile and drone strike on electricity generation, distribution, and transmission facilities in the southern regions of Ukraine.
As a result of the attack, consumers in Odesa, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Mykolaiv regions were left without power.
Earlier reports said that efforts were underway in Odesa to restore electricity, water, and heating supplies. However, the head of the regional military administration, Serhii Lysak, noted that it was still too early to make forecasts.
Russia also struck critical and industrial infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region, attacking the area with missiles and drones.
