Occupied Crimea faces severe labor shortage as residents flee
There is a shortage of personnel in temporarily occupied Crimea. This situation arises as the population leaves the region due to fears of escalating hostilities, according to the National Resistance Center of Ukraine (NRC).
Consequently, the labor market in the occupied peninsula suffers from a lack of workforce.
The information resource noted that government agencies are attempting to address this issue by offering high salaries for the region and rotating Russian temporary workers. However, the problem remains in the private sector.
"In general, during the Russian occupation, Crimea turned into an open-air military base where security forces, soldiers, and their servants live. However, during the war, living on a base is dangerous, and it is logical that civilians choose to leave the region," the NRC added.
It is worth noting that last month, the NRC reported that Russia still cannot overcome the personnel shortage in the occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, there is a lack of teachers, utility workers, and doctors, as people refuse to cooperate with the enemy. As a result, the seized regions are non-functional.
Additionally, in August, the NRC wrote that the Russians failed to establish a so-called government in the occupied villages. The enemy launched a competition for village leaders to address the shortage of collaborators, promising financial incentives for participation.
