Notre Dame Cathedral opened in France after restoration
Today, Notre Dame Cathedral reopened in Paris. The opening ceremony took place five and a half years after the fire that significantly damaged the historic building, reports BFMTV.
The opening ceremony was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, who promised to restore the cathedral after the incident, as well as other state leaders. In particular, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and newly elected US President Donald Trump.
“Our cathedrals are also mortal, but we have chosen the beginning, the will, the course of hope, setting ourselves the goal of restoring Notre Dame de Paris even more beautiful in five years,” Macron said.
During his speech, the French president emphasized the brotherhood of those who donated funds on all continents, of all religions, of all classes, united by hope and reunited at the opening. Macron also emphasized the brotherhood of all those who restored the cathedral.
The media outlet notes that 340,000 people donated to the restoration of the building.
