The CEO of Oleksandr Usyk’s team, Serhii Lapin, commented on the boxing level of well-known showman and fighter Jake Paul, assessing his prospects among professional boxers, according to Ready to Fight.

You can make a show, but you cannot fool boxing

According to Lapin, Paul’s unsuccessful bout against Anthony Joshua once again proved that boxing is not a show or entertainment, but a long-term journey that demands total dedication. The sport requires consistency, discipline, and attention to thousands of small details.

Lapin stressed that boxing does not forgive mistakes. For many athletes, it is a lifelong pursuit that includes hundreds of amateur fights, dozens of professional bouts, and years, sometimes decades, of hard work. In his words, it is impossible to simply step into the sport and skip a path you have never walked.

The manager also noted that while it is possible to put on a show, play at boxing, or call yourself whatever you like, self-deception becomes dangerous if you truly want to reach a serious level and fight for the top.

Jake Paul's potential

At the same time, Lapin acknowledged that Paul does have certain boxing qualities.

He said that if Jake had entered boxing earlier, he could have reached a genuinely high level. Lapin pointed out Paul’s good reflexes, coordination, and solid mental abilities, adding that in boxing, nothing is impossible and that Paul still has time to try to make his dream a reality.

The fight with Joshua and its aftermath

In his bout against Joshua, Paul was knocked out in the sixth round. After the fight, it emerged that the American was hospitalized and underwent surgery. Doctors diagnosed him with a double jaw fracture.
