Not missile: NYT presents new version of Prigozhin's plane crash
An explosion on board the plane belonging to the head of the Wagner Private Military Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, led to the plane crash, according to The New York Times.
American and other Western officials informed the NYT that the explosion on board the plane most likely had led to its crash.
"Blast could have been caused by a bomb or other device planted on the aircraft, though other possibilities, like adulterated fuel, were also being explored.," the article notes.
Prigozhin's plane crash
On August 23, a business jet crashed in the Tver region of Russia. Immediately, there were reports that the plane belonged to Prigozhin.
Subsequently, the Russian aviation authorities confirmed that Prigozhin was one of the passengers on the airliner. However, the founder of the Wagner Private Military Group's death has not been officially confirmed.
One of the versions circulating in Telegram channels about the cause of the plane crash is the involvement of Russian air defense systems.
