Norway plans to increase its support for Ukraine's defense by increasing aid spending, according to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

During a speech to the country's parliament, the Prime Minister expressed disappointment with the scenes in the Oval Office and any potential split between European allies and the United States.

Addressing the US administration, he said he shared their desire to reach a peace agreement, but that no one wants peace more than Ukraine. In particular, he warned against naive views of Russia.

He also called the pause in Washington's military assistance to Ukraine unfortunate and noted the leading role of the UK and France in supporting Kyiv.

According to him, today he will meet with the leaders of other parties in the country to discuss accelerating military procurement and production.

Norway's support for Ukraine

Since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Norway has been actively supporting Ukraine by providing military, financial, and humanitarian aid. Oslo has provided Kyiv with air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and missiles, and finances the purchase of weapons through international funds. In addition, Norway is helping to strengthen Ukraine's energy system by supplying equipment and allocating funds for its restoration after Russian attacks.

Recently, the Norwegian Prime Minister said that the government would soon ask the parliament to increase financial support for Ukraine.
