There is still no final agreed version of the peace plan that could be called the final version in negotiations with the US, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told journalists.
The president stressed the key importance of security guarantees from the US and NATO.
“We are working on security guarantees with the United States of America. It is essential for us that it be voted on in the US Congress. That these guarantees be legally binding. Second, that this be Article 5 of NATO. Third, that we know how our partners will react in the event of a repeat of Russia's aggression,” he said.
Zelenskyy confirmed that there are details regarding weapons, strengthening the army, and the size of the Ukrainian army.
"In fact, you know all these details, except for the size, which must be and remain at least 800,000. As for the details of armament and so on, we have agreed with the United States not to discuss the details publicly until this document is finalized," the head of state said.
Commenting on the question of whether there is any idea when the Americans will present the latest version of the Russian peace plan, the president emphasized that there is no such version yet.
"When you ask about the latest version of the peace plan, I don't know what the latest version of the Russian Federation's peace plan is. There is a plan that the United States has discussed with us and is discussing with Russia. The latest version of any plan is the agreed version. So far, there is no agreed version of the plan," the president said.
When asked when he plans to discuss the peace plan with the US president, Zelenskyy replied that his new contact with Trump is possible after the documents are finalized.
US peace plan
Last month, the White House administration proposed a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine.
Although the document initially contained 28 points, most of which did not correspond to Ukraine's interests but rather supported those of Russia, the plan now looks different.
Today, the US peace plan includes a framework agreement, security guarantees, and a document on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Recently, Zelenskyy stated that the plan is to be divided into five documents, and as soon as Kyiv is as close as possible to concluding an agreement with Russia, the head of state will meet with US leader Donald Trump.
