Night strike on Kharkiv: regional officials share photos of damage from Russian attack

Russia continues to systematically strike Ukrainian territory. In the early hours of June 5, the strike hit a densely populated residential area in Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi district, according to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov.
At 1:05 AM Kyiv time, Russian forces launched Shahed-type drones at Kharkiv. Direct hits were recorded on two residential apartment buildings in the city’s Slobidskyi district.
Update on injured
Initially, Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov reported that three people were injured in the attack, including a child and an elderly man.
However, he later stated that the number of injured had risen to 17. Among them are a 9-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy, a pregnant woman, and a 93-year-old elderly woman. All are in mild condition and received medical assistance on-site.
Strike aftermath
Apartments are on fire, and private vehicles have been destroyed. With this attack, Russian forces once again demonstrated their tactic of insidious terror, striking while people are asleep in their homes.
All emergency services are working at the scene. Efforts to eliminate the consequences are ongoing.
Previous attacks on Kharkiv
During the night of June 4, Russian forces had already launched an attack on Kharkiv using both drones and missiles. According to medics from a military hospital, the strike triggered large fires in industrial zones and also damaged residential buildings.
Russia carried out ten drone strikes, primarily targeting the Novobavarskyi district. A total of nine drones and two missiles were used, causing fires at four different sites across the city.
Russian strikes on Kharkiv
On June 4, a Russian attack drone hit the outskirts of Kharkiv, reportedly striking a gas station in the Kyivskyi district. On June 3, an FPV drone was recorded hitting near the city’s border.
On the night of June 2, according to the State Emergency Service, Russian drones struck a postal terminal on the outskirts of Kharkiv. A massive fire broke out, engulfing two warehouse buildings and containers across a total area of 3,000 square meters.
