Night attack on Kyiv: Russian drone hits residential building, debris damages high-rise

Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kyiv overnight on October 26. As a result of the strike, a residential building was hit, and drone debris fell in several areas, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko.
Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kyiv overnight on October 26. Following an air raid alert at 2:27 AM Kyiv time, a series of explosions and air defense activity were heard across the city. Damage was reported in the Desnianskyi and Obolonskyi districts.
"In the Desnianskyi district, a nine-story residential building was hit between the 2nd and 3rd floors. Emergency services are heading to the scene," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
He later added that debris also fell on a 16-story building in the same district, while the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed debris hit the roof of another high-rise.
"In the Obolonskyi district, debris damaged the roof of a residential building. The information is being verified," Tkachenko reported at 03:07 AM Kyiv time.
Tkachenko later stated that a fire broke out in one of the Desnianskyi district locations - a multi-apartment residential building was burning. At another address, windows were shattered by the blast wave.
Casualties
As of 03:33 AM Kyiv time, Tkachenko confirmed that a child was injured in the attack and hospitalized. Later, the number of casualties rose to three, then five, including two children.
"At this time, 12 people are known to have been injured in the enemy attack, including four children," the KCMA said at 03:59 AM Kyiv time.
Kyiv under attack
Russian forces have recently intensified strikes on the Ukrainian capital, using drones and ballistic missiles.
On the night of October 25, Russia launched multiple missile strikes on Kyiv, damaging buildings in the Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts.
Windows were shattered in residential buildings and a kindergarten, a grocery store, and warehouses were destroyed, and several cars were damaged.
Nine people were injured in that attack, three of whom were hospitalized.
