New US sanctions package against Russia ready for approval - Kellogg

Sanctions by the United States against Russia have been prepared; Congress and the White House are ready to approve them.
This was stated by the US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, according to his interview with Fox News.
According to the official, the US sanctions package against Russia is already prepared.
"I talked to Lindsey Graham last weekend, and I believe the sanctions are ready; they are ready to go. They called 'The Russian Sanctions Act 2025.' And I think Graham has got them set and ready to drop," Kellogg said.
Kellogg also noted that the sanctions were considered quite burdensome, highlighting a proposed 500% tariff on imports to the United States as an example. He added that there was broad agreement on the issue within both Congress and the White House.
"Russia is a petrostate. A lot of their money comes from the petrochemicals. That's what we are really going after," the Trump envoy added.
US sanctions against Russia
In early May, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a draft of crushing US sanctions against Russia.
The restrictions include a 500% tariff on all imports to the US from countries that purchase oil, petroleum products, natural gas, or uranium from Russia. In addition, the bill prohibits US citizens from buying Russian sovereign debt.
The sanctions are intended to pressure Vladimir Putin into negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump has pledged to approve the sanctions package if Russia fails in the peace talks in Istanbul.
At the same time, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Washington is not rushing to impose the sanctions so as not to provoke Russia into withdrawing from the negotiations.
Meanwhile, France has proposed jointly coordinating the imposition of sanctions with the US to pressure the aggressor to end the war.
