What is known about iPhone 18 lineup

Apple’s next generation of smartphones is already widely discussed in tech media and among insiders. Although the official presentation is still some time away, leaks provide an early picture of the upcoming iPhone 18 series.

The lineup is expected to include a base model as well as Pro and Pro Max versions. Some sources also suggest additional devices, such as an updated Air model or even a foldable smartphone.

Screen sizes may remain roughly similar to the previous generation, while changes are expected in specific design details and the camera module.

Possible design changes

Insiders suggest Apple may reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, with part of the Face ID system potentially moving under the display, making the cutout less noticeable.

Some sources believe the element will not disappear entirely but could become about one-third narrower.

New color options are also being discussed, including purple, burgundy, and dark brown finishes.

Leaks further point to an updated rear panel in Pro models and a more unified overall design.

Cameras and battery

One of the main expected upgrades involves the camera system. According to insiders, one model may feature a variable aperture lens, allowing better control of light and depth of field.

Battery capacity may also increase, with some reports suggesting the Pro version could exceed 5,000 mAh, improving battery life.

New processor and specifications

The next generation is expected to run on Apple’s new A20 chip, featuring an updated architecture aimed at improving performance and energy efficiency.

Analysts also anticipate an increase in RAM to 12GB and improvements to wireless connectivity thanks to a new modem.

When iPhone 18 may launch

Sources indicate Apple could change its traditional release schedule. Higher-end models may be unveiled in autumn 2026, while base versions could arrive later, in early 2027.

Apple has not confirmed these details, but interest in the upcoming smartphone is growing, as the next lineup could become one of the company’s most important in recent years.

Apple is also preparing several spring launches, including a more affordable iPhone, updated iPads, and new computer models. Journalist Mark Gurman reported that the coming weeks could bring the debut of a budget MacBook, updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, as well as new Mac displays, making Apple’s spring announcements among the most anticipated of the season.

Cameras remain one of the defining features of iPhones, and Apple may take a significant technological step in the coming years. According to a recent report, the company plans to equip devices with a 200-megapixel camera by 2028, potentially improving image detail and advancing mobile photography further.
