A chemical plant, Nevinnomyssk Azot, critical to Russia’s military-industrial complex, was attacked in the Stavropol region of Russia, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, on Telegram.

Preliminary data indicate the facility was struck by unidentified unmanned devices.

According to Kovalenko, Nevinnomyssk Azot produces up to one million tons of ammonia and over one million tons of ammonium nitrate annually — key components for manufacturing explosives, including artillery shells, high-explosive charges, and rocket propellants, which Russia actively uses in its war against Ukraine.

What is known

The plant also produces melamine, methanol, acetic acid, and potassium nitrate — dual-use substances widely employed in military chemistry.

Since 2024, the facility has launched production of water-soluble fertilizers adapted to the needs of the defense sector.

Samara region

An attack was also recorded on the Novokuybyshev Catalyst Plant in Russia’s Samara region — a key enterprise that supports the country’s oil refining capacity.

The plant plays a critical role in the logistics of fuel supply for the Russian military-industrial complex.

According to reports, it manufactures and restores catalysts — materials without which no oil refining complex in Russia operates.

These catalysts enable the production of aviation fuel, diesel for armored vehicles, lubricants, and rocket fuel.

Drone attacks on Russia

On May 24, a chemical plant named Azot in the Tula region was attacked. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), the strike targeted a site possibly linked to the military industry.

Azot produces several chemical substances that may be used for military purposes.

Meanwhile, on the night of January 21, an explosion occurred near the oil terminal of the Sea Commercial Port in the settlement of Ust-Luga, Leningrad region.

It was later revealed that the explosions at the sea terminal in Ust-Luga, Leningrad region, were a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The occupiers process fuel at the port, which is supplied, among other things, to Russian troops at the front.
