Netherlands urges West to boost arms production to support Ukraine
Production of weapons and ammunition must be significantly increased to continue to support Ukraine. NATO is currently doing a lot for Ukraine, but it is not enough, says Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
"If we want Ukraine to win the war and regain its advantage, we will have to supply more," he says.
According to Brekelmans, 32 NATO allies have demonstrated a greater willingness to invest more in common defense.
The Minister notes that European stockpiles of weapons are running out.
"So we will have to find very creative ways to continue to support Ukraine," he says.
One way, he says, is to produce more weapons in Europe.
Shells for Ukraine
A few months ago, the Czech Republic, with the support of many Western countries, launched an initiative to purchase shells for Ukraine. On June 25, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced the delivery of the first batch of ammunition to Ukraine as part of this initiative.
According to RBC-Ukraine's source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces, this assistance has more than halved the difference in the amount of ammunition between Ukraine and Russia.
