The Netherlands has delivered a radar for the Patriot surface-to-air missile system to Ukraine, and the country will soon send three launchers, according to Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.

He said that the Netherlands had recently sent a radar for the Patriot system to Ukraine and that three launchers would soon follow.

The minister clarified that other countries are still looking for additional components to provide the full system.

"We are still working on this," Brekelmans said, adding that negotiations are underway with "several partners."

In the Netherlands, it was noted that the Ministry of Defense was recently informed that an "ally will not fulfill the aforementioned obligation." The country that has backed out of its commitment was not specified.

Backstory

At the end of June, the Ministry of Defense announced that the Netherlands, along with another allied country, would transfer a full Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. The Netherlands emphasized its readiness to provide the main components, while other parts were to be supplied by other nations.

Earlier in the summer, then-Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said that her country had fulfilled its mission. She did not specify which country failed to meet its obligations.
