Netflix snaps up Warner Bros for $83 billion

Netflix has made one of the most high-profile deals in the history of this industry. The streaming service has acquired the film studio Warner Bros, whose portfolio includes the Harry Potter franchise, DC films, The Lord of the Rings and others.
Netflix bought Warner Bros: What is known
The company will gain access to Warner Bros. Discovery's studio and streaming assets, including the Warner film studio and the HBO/HBO Max brand. The deal is valued at $82.7 billion (approximately 83 billion). This is one of the biggest mergers in Hollywood history and could radically transform the entertainment market.
The deal will officially close in 2026, when Warner Bros will split into two companies. Netflix will acquire the studio part, while the new Discovery Global will acquire channels such as CNN. All formal procedures, including regulatory checks in the United States and other countries, must be completed before the final closing.

What this means for viewers worldwide and in Ukraine
Following the merger, Netflix will gain access to Warner's extensive library, which includes hundreds of iconic films and series. HBO Max content may also be added to the catalogue, significantly expanding the library.
It is not officially known whether the combination of the two giants will lead to price changes for users. However, experts do not rule out that the merger could influence pricing in the future.
It is also unclear whether HBO will continue to be a standalone player on the market.
We remind you that only in October this year, HBO Max became available in Ukraine for the first time. The company also promised to invest in the development of Ukrainian dubbing and subtitles.
