Netflix releases first trailer for Matthew Perry series: When it premieres

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the documentary series The One About Matthew Perry, dedicated to the life and career of Matthew Perry. The project will feature personal memories from his sister, friends, and colleagues, as well as previously unreleased photos and videos from the family archive, according to Netflix.
What the documentary series about Matthew Perry will be like
The One About Matthew Perry will consist of three parts. It will tell the story of the actor’s journey from the beginning of his career to worldwide fame after his role as Chandler Bing in the cult sitcom Friends.
The trailer features footage from Matthew’s professional life, as well as excerpts from interviews with people who knew him personally.
For the first time, the star’s younger sister, Mia Perry Bovick, will share her memories. She grew up with him in Los Angeles and became a licensed psychotherapist, in part to understand his addiction.
In addition, the documentary project will feature the actor’s friends David Pressman and Roger Castillo, as well as several of his former girlfriends – Renee Ashton and Rome.
The project will cover Perry’s audition for Friends and the creation of the character Chandler Bing. Former NBC Entertainment president Warren Littlefield and first-season sitcom writer Jeff Strauss will also share their stories about the actor.
Perry spent millions battling addiction
The documentary series will pay particular attention to the actor’s years-long battle with addiction. According to his sister, he spent $7 million trying to overcome the condition.
As shown in the trailer, Perry sought fame, but professional success did not rid him of his inner struggles. People close to him will discuss this period of his life and his road to recovery in the series.
“I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was, and the legacy he leaves behind,” the actor’s sister said.
According to her, her brother had a kind heart and a generous nature. Even during the most difficult periods, he could make others laugh.
When will the documentary series about Matthew Perry be released?
The One About Matthew Perry was directed by Mary Robertson. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on October 27, 2026.
The series will be released ahead of the third anniversary of the actor’s death – Matthew died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
