Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to travel to Washington on Monday to address the US Congress and meet with President Joe Biden, reports the Associated Press.

The exact time of the meeting with Biden is currently unknown due to the US President's COVID-19 illness, which has left his schedule unconfirmed. Netanyahu is also expected to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris, who is vying for the Democratic presidential nomination.

It remains unclear whether the Prime Minister will meet with former President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu's address to Congress is scheduled for Wednesday. He will be targeting several audiences:

  • his far-right coalition partners, crucial to his political survival;
  • the Biden administration, on whom Netanyahu relies for diplomatic and military support;
  • the Republican Party, led by Donald Trump, which could offer Netanyahu a chance to reset relations if Trump is re-elected in November.

The Associated Press notes that Netanyahu's remarks risk angering any of these constituencies, a risk he cannot afford if he hopes to maintain his precarious hold on power.
