Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas leaders in Qatar remain alive and emphasized the need to eliminate them, according to Reuters.

According to Netanyahu, this would remove the main obstacle to freeing the hostages and ending the war in Gaza.

"The Hamas terrorist chiefs living in Qatar don't care about the people in Gaza. They blocked all ceasefire attempts in order to endlessly drag out the war," Netanyahu said.

Israel recently carried out airstrikes on Hamas leadership centers in Doha. These strikes were condemned by Qatar, which serves as one of the platforms for ceasefire negotiations.

According to Hamas, five of its members were killed in the attack, including the son of senior exiled leader Khalil al-Hayya. At the same time, the top leaders of the group and members of its negotiating delegation survived. Qatar also reported the death of an employee of its internal security service.

The Prime Minister added that Israel will not leave unpunished those responsible for violence against civilians.

According to Netanyahu, Israeli intelligence services continue to monitor Hamas’s activities and collect intelligence to prevent further attacks on Israeli territory.

The Prime Minister’s statements came against the backdrop of escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas, as both sides exchange rocket strikes and military operations. International observers note that the presence of Hamas leaders in Qatar complicates Israel’s ability to intervene directly and underscores the geopolitical nuances of the region.

On Saturday, September 13, the UN General Assembly approved by majority vote a declaration providing for a plan to divide Palestine into two states - Israeli and Arab.

At the same time, Israel expressed disagreement with the document, since it envisions the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel as the just resolution of the conflict.
