NATO believes Ukraine needs not only grenades but also mobilization
Ukraine needs not only grenades but also further mobilization to replace the killed and wounded, says NATO Military Committee Chair Rob Bauer at the Kyiv Security Forum.
He stresses that Ukraine needs not only weapons but also people for further warfare.
"You don't only need new grenades, and tanks, and armed vehicles, you also need unfortunately new soldiers. Because soldiers die and soldiers get wounded. And then you talk about mobilization," Bauer said.
He notes that he understands convincing people is not easy, but he sees changes.
New draft law on mobilization
On January 30, the government reintroduced to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) a draft law on mobilization, military registration, and military service. The document proposes changes to the procedure, including conscripts going abroad, providing exceptions for conscription, electronic draft notices, lowering the conscription age to 25 years, restrictions for evaders, and more.
Currently, the National Security and Defense Committee is examining the new draft law. MPs have already submitted over 4,000 amendments to it.
